Water Patrol

Aug 13, 2010  |     |   General

This week has been by far the hottest week of the summer, with temperatures in the high 90’s and heat indexes above 100 degrees. So everyday, at 3:00pm, staff from Open Door Mission have gone to the Gene Leahy Mall and walked around handing out cold bottles of water. I personally handed out water on Monday and Thursday this week. At first I was not too happy to be stuck outside in the scorching heat, then having to go back and work until 10pm. However, after walking a few blocks and handing out quite a few bottles of water, my attitude changed. The looks on the people’s faces when I told it was FREE made it worth it. They were so thankful for this small gesture on a day when water is something desperately needed. I just thank God that we were able to provide for many people that were in need this week! God is good!
