Variety of Volunteers

I stand in amazement at the variety in our volunteers – ages, faces, background, talents and abilities. This is a picture of a long time volunteer, Jackie. She comes down once a month, with her church, and serves meals. She has grown to love her time at the Mission and rarely misses. Here, Jackie is stepping out of her normal volunteer mode, using her professional hair styling skills to help one of our WorkNet clients prepare for the job market. He had taken our 3-week class, had a stellar resume, application and honed interview skills. He only needed a haircut to give him the professional edge needed to land a job. Jackie stepped up to the plate and gave this gentleman the “Princeton” haircut that he requested. We were all excited to see the difference a few moments under her expert shears could do to transform his looks, and instill that last bit of confidence he needed to face employers.
