The response for this event was overwhelming, so we had to open up a second date of cruise times, which was also quickly filled up. How exciting is that!?
Yesterday, Rotella’s Italian Bakery donated 1,000 hot dog buns and 1,000 hamburger buns for the Riverboat Event, and there is sure to be no shortage of tasty food at the dock. The chefs have been preparing the meat in anticipation of this weekend. All the details are falling into place.
As the final loose ends are being tied up, I think about how Open Door Mission is like a family. All of our staff, donors, volunteers, and supporters are bonded together by a common cause: to inspire HOPE for lasting change. So as we gather together on a sunny summer afternoon, it will feel like a family reunion, celebrating all God has done in the last 60 years. And like family reunions, when this one ends, I will look forward to the next when we can share stories of what God did over the next 60 years.
