As Candace Gregory, Open Door Mission’s President/CEO says, “I am a slow learner BUT not a give up learner. So I HOPE that counts, God is not finished with me yet.”
At the Mission, we are always trying to learn, trying to better ourselves, trying to better our Mission. At a recent training, there were many useful tips, but one that stuck out and I reasoned needed to be shared with all of you. This tidbit is a lesson we can bring back to the workplace to be better than we were the day before.
The training emphasized the need for self care. Work can be a draining place in the caring profession. What are you doing to care for yourself? Did you pray, read your Bible? Do you fellowship and worship every week? Do you go to movies, hang out with friends, go for hikes, and other fun things? If you will, it is okay to be self-focused instead of other-focused some of the time. So, I challenge you this week, take an evening and rest WELL, however that looks for you. Making this a weekly habit will give you more energy for what lies ahead.
