At Open Door Mission our volunteers are valued in so many ways, not just for the work they do. We often see that they are hurting and need a friend. The greatest friend we have is Jesus Christ and we will share Him gladly. Shawn, in Receiving, recently had an opportunity to that. He even enlisted the help of other staff to help him answer questions and pray for our volunteer. Here is his story in his own words.
Today there was a young man doing community service in receiving. Normally they work inside of the Timberlake Outreach Center, but this young man was struggling so I got him started on bailing the cardboard. So i started to have a conversation with him and started talking about Jesus. In TUMI we were given basic steps on how to lead someone to Christ. It was easy to remember the verses because as a kid I learned them in Awana. While I was at lunch I was able to ask Greg and Dave a few Questions to help me guide this young man. When I got back we talked a little more and prayed together as he asked Jesus into his heart. Please continue to pray for Jamie as he starts this new journey.
