Serving the Multitudes

Jesus fed the 5000 by using a little boy’s lunch. Last week at the Timberlake Outreach Center, Jesus clothed over 6000 by using the gently used donations of our caring friends. I continue to be amazed by the number of people right here in Omaha, who are truly in need. I commented to my husband after a very long day on Saturday, that so many seem tired or weary from the daily struggle.

We all have our needs I suppose, but it warmed my heart, when late on the last day of this big giveaway week, just moments before we closed up, a woman came into the Timberlake Outreach Center and shared that all she really needed was a warm comforter for her bed. By this time after having served so many, our staff and volunteers were tired, and the place was pretty picked over, but Taylor went quickly and cheerfully to the back room, dug through a tall box of recently donated items, and plucked out a large, thick, warm comforter. Would anyone be surprised to hear that it was even the perfect color for her!? It seemed like a perfect way to end the Super Duper giveaway week.
Winter is coming, and we are gearing up to serve more people than ever before. We sure need your donations of food and warm winter clothes, but please also consider coming down and being a part of the blessing for those whose needs are so great. It continues to be my honor and pleasure to serve next to our caring staff and devoted volunteers!
Blessings,
