Our kids have been having a blast this summer thanks to all of you who supported Kamp to Kids! We are looking ahead to the school year and adapting to what school will look like when it opens. Children and youth experiencing homelessness often struggle with school and have worry, anxiety, and fear as they return to school even in a normal school situation. COVID-19 has only added to those worries. To help with that Open Door Mission will be providing a brand new program called Success Net. This is a Monday through Friday program for school-aged children experiencing homelessness in response to the Omaha Public Schools Family 3/2 plan. This program will focus on creating an atmosphere for our children to be successful academically, emotionally, mentally, socially, and spiritually. A way that YOU, the community can help is by joining the opportunity to help with Back to School supplies. You can shop our WishList or pick up extra school supplies when you are shopping for your kids! Unfortunately, due to more than 50% of our children being victims of domestic violence, we can not allow personal hand deliveries of school supplies to our children but we will have a fabulous thank you from our students. Please check out our WishLists in the links below!
