So you may be thinking, what these dates mean? Well August 28, 2012 was the day Hollie moved into the Lydia House. She was at the Lydia House seeking a life change. She had gotten her 3rd DUI and was facing some jail time and she knew she needed help. OnOctober 10, 2012, Hollie joined the New Life Recovery Program. Her first few months in the program were very difficult as she struggled to let go of her addiction to cigarettes and fully give herself to God. Hollie sat in my office on numerous occasions crying telling me she was not going to be able to quit smoking or even come close to finishing the program. On January 5, 2013, Hollie finally surrendered herself and decided to take on what the entire program offered and give up everything for good. Hollie quit smoking and began excelling and moving through the program. On August 2, 2013, Hollie completed the last level of the program WorkNet and was even Student of the Month. It was amazing to see God’s work in Hollies’ life, from the days in my office telling me she could not do the program to see her smiling face when she graduated the program. So what does September 3, 2013 represent for Hollie? This is the day she starts college. Hollie is planning on going to college and obtaining a culinary arts degree. In what seems like a short 10 months Hollie’s life has been transformed and I am excited to see what God has in store for her in the future.
