I have the joy and pleasure of working with the most generous people in the Omaha area. As Senior Development Officer, I work with those who donate funds to support the work of Open Door Mission. These folk understand that it takes significant resources to provide food, shelter, and life changing programs for nearly 400 people every day of the year as well as preventative services to another 200 or more every day. Those who give to Open Door Mission do so with a real sense of purpose and joy; that is to help others move through rough patches in life and help them be self sufficient in the future. As I visit with donors, I see they have gladness in their hearts as they know they’re helping break the cycle of homelessness and poverty. They are fulfilling God’s desire for all who give. “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
In addition to supportive individuals, I would like to site one company as an example of the business sector that provides tremendous support. Cargill, the international producer and marketer of food, has a branch in Blair, Nebraska. They not only match the gifts their employees give to Open Door Mission, they double that. Recently that meant an extra $5,300 for Open Door Mission! There are many businesses throughout the metropolitan area that have leaders with charitable hearts.
Thanks to one and all, individuals and businesses, who support Open Door Mission with purpose and joy. It is a true honor to have you as our partners.
“He who is gracious to the needy honors God.” Proverb 14:31
