Learning to Act…Not React

Hi, my name is John E Lindsey, and I provide mental health services and do case management in the shelter and with men when they join one of our life changing programs.

Recently I worked with a man who was trying to get his children back.  He needed to work with several agencies, and to interact with staff in a way that he could be heard.  So we worked on assertiveness, and slowing down to redirect the tendency to react to situations, especially with such an emotionally laden issues as seeking to be a father.

Things are moving forward, Steve was able to follow through on situations and to take actions that were responsive and not merely reactive.  Last week he was able to get housing. Pray for Steve and his children there are many obstacles ahead of them.
