Saturday night I had the opportunity to represent Open Door Mission at the Omaha Beef indoor football game. Towards the end of the night a sweet Girl Scout approached the table to tell me she enjoyed the national anthem. She then sat down at our table looking at the information and items on the table. She asked me what the Open Door Mission did exactly, we had a great talk about how there are people in the world that struggle with certain things in life that makes it hard for them to live a positive lifestyle and that the Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission that meets the needs of individuals and families while inspiring hope for lasting change.
She looked at her dad and then back at me and asked “How do you inspire hope?” How can I inspire hope in people? How can I help? What can I do? I gave her lots of information and a few of our compassion cards and explained them to her and her dad. We talked a little more about her passions and hobbies. I gave her a big hug and told her thank you for wanting to help others. Her dad thanked me for taking the time to talk to her and hugged me as well. As they walked away a few bible verses came to my mind Mark 9:37 and Luke 18:16. You just never know what God is going to do in any situation. What a blessing it is to meet people and Share God’s heart!
My prayer is that this sweet little girl will continue to listen to those Holy Spirit whispers in her heart. I hope this little story encourages all of you this week.
