My name is Shawntel Scaife and my mission began here at ODM for 1 year, but I am just getting started. I started off on the overnight shift but soon moved over to our Woman and Family Crisis Center in which, I quickly grew to love. Our crisis center is usually the first stop our woman make when requesting services from the Open Door Mission. These individuals are usually sad, tired, depressed and hungry when they walk through our doors. I find myself praying, consoling, and often times crying with them. My heart breaks for them especially the children so that is why I dedicate myself to trying to meet each and every one of our guests needs in a timely manner. Many of my days are long and stressful but I still look forward to returning the next day to do it all over again. I know that God has put me here for a reason and I am living purposely in his will.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
