Harvard or Heaven?

There has been a lot in the news about parents lying, cheating and buying their children’s way into prestige schools. Most people are outraged that the parents, as Christian parents we are called to help our children to find their way to heaven…not a prestige school.

The staff at Open Door Mission try to not only “talk the talk”, but “walk the talk”. Using financial power, or any

kind of power, to gain favor for self or others is wrong. What are you teaching your child? Money doesn’t solve the problems of laziness, feelings of privilege, lack of respect for others hard work and the attitude that you don’t have to obey standards, rules, regulations or laws. So many of our guests were never taught God’s way so we teach them, so they can teach their children. Teach your children God’s way. Teach your children to trust Christ, lead your child to Lord, not only for eternal life, but help them remain strong in doing right, to help them be of good character…a Godly person. As their parent you are to help them get into heaven, not Harvard. Our guests attend classes to help them grow in Christ, find good in doing the right thing, not always the easy thing. Developing integrity and strength of character empowers the adult to be a better parent. Please pray for guests as they learn and work toward being Godly parents.
