So many of our guests find HOPE for lasting change in the
Word of God.
This describes so much of my job at Open Door Mission. Many of the people who come seeking shelter and food are in darkness, and do not know the light that Christ provides for all who believe in Him. They do not know of Christ’s sacrifice for their sins. And to be the one able to share these truths is such an honor. At the end of the day, this is the main reason I love working at Open Door Mission.
One of my favorite things I get to be a part of at the Men’s Center is chapel. Since we are blessed with so many volunteers, we are able to offer a chapel each night at for any guests who wish to attend.
I enjoy hearing the stories of men who go to chapel “just because,” and return sometime later and tell me and other staff of how that chapel impacted them to read the Bible or join a Bible study. Getting to hear of these stories and see how volunteers are willing to give up their night just to witness to men and women reminds me of how important our job is at Open Door Mission.
