I’m a fan of the saying “God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called”. Nearly every time I have been called into a new ministry position, I have known that I am NOT fully equipped. This is not to say that I am unaware that I have certain gifts, talents and experiences that some person recognized and said, “We’d like you to …… (fill in the blank)”. It does mean that I suffer no delusions that God’s call is out of something awesome He may have for my talent.
What I have experienced and am experiencing once again is that God recognizes a willing heart and then orchestrates positions to affect His Will. Today, when I am asked “why do you work at the Mission?” I have learned to say “because God called”. Often people will then say, “Oh you’d be good at that.” To which I have to reply, “I firmly believe that I am here to learn as much as I am here to help; that God is doing something in me as much as he is doing something through me. It is this solid conviction that spurs me on. May God do something in you today as much as through you.
