Open Door Mission cannot do all it does without “our Village” of caring people. Some of these people are our “every day what can I do to help” volunteers. We also have professionals that come and volunteer their skills and expertise. We are blessed with nursing students from all the area colleges. The nursing students help by doing blood pressure checks, diabetes checks and other simple tests that help our clinic staff keep the guests healthy. Kate shares how a volunteer doctor made a difference for one of our guests.
“Prevent Blindness IA has partnered with us for 5 years now in helping our guests obtain free eye glasses with businesses here in the Omaha/Lincoln areas. Michael came to me last spring stating he needed new glasses. We got him into Dr. Matthew Taylor with Ideal Eye Care, who also volunteers his time for our guests. Dr. Taylor gave Michael a prescription for eye glasses. Michael soon received his voucher from Prevent Blindness IA and is seeing clearly now! Thanks you Dr. Taylor and Prevent Blindness IA for all of your care in helping our guests have a brighter outlook on life!”
A Gift-in-Kindness will bless our guests and you. Come volunteer today or any day…the blessing abound! Check out other Gift-in-Kindness blogs throughout the months to come.
