Galatians 6:9, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we
shall reap, if we faint not.”
I let my dog out the other night, and she ran straight for three opossums that had made their way into our back yard! As I stood there (in fear for her) I saw the first possum just fall over, as if dead, and the other two freeze in their tracks! My dog smelled the one that played dead – – and then responded to my frantic calls to get out of harms way!
That got me thinking how life is often like that; when faced with trials or challenges, some fall over as if dead, some freeze in their tracks and some run right up to their problem, deal with it, and keep moving on!
In Galatians, Paul wrote of the freedom we’d attain if we persevered in the Christian life. I’m blessed to be a Lydia House team member who gets to see our women, children and men meet their challenges head-on and push onward! Many are readying themselves for their Graduation at Open Door Mission, scheduled for October 9, 2010!
I’ve also been witness to the generosity of donors like Michael, Jenny and Jillian from Beauty First, and Kim and Sarita from D’vas Beauty Salon. They have provided haircuts and styles for graduates. There is also Melissa, a private photographer, and her team of assistants who took their official graduation photos. These folks helped this class enjoy a weekend where they felt very special, and provided them with a lasting memory of Paul’s wisdom to persevere.
With much thanks,
Lydia House Case Manager
