I am very happy to report that OPPD’s North Omaha Station’s clothing drive, for the benefit of Open Door Mission and Lydia House was a huge success. We collected over forty coats/jackets; this being, in addition to snow pants, hats, gloves and scarves — many in excellent condition and even some brand new items. Additionally, there were several bags of assorted clothing items also donated.
Overall, nearly 135 pounds of clothing made it to the receiving dock of Open Door Mission, including all the brand new, and much needed, items earmarked for distribution to the women and families with children in the new Lydia House. I was thrilled with the results of this project and am very proud of the support shown by all the North Omaha people who donated or just commented on what a genuine and worthy cause this was.
Open Door Mission has various drives and functions throughout the year and I would hope that, in the future, we could help them any way we can.
