Yes, we are walking at the 3rd Annual Walk-a-Thon to support Open Door Mission and we want you walking with us! This is a family friendly, elderly friendly, kid friendly, singles friendly, church friendly, work friendly, volunteer friendly, and just plain friendly event. On Sunday, September 19th, any time from 1:00-4:00 pm, you are invited to start walking from Gallup University to Open Door Mission– approx. one mile away. For a small registration fee of only $19.20, not only will you provide ten meals at the Mission, you will receive a specially designed T-shirt (destined to be a collector’s item in the years to come), a bottle of water, and a chance to meet other walkers and friends of ours.
But wait– there is more…when you arrive at the Garland Thompson Men’s Center you will be greeted by staff and the delicious aroma of homemade soups and breads. These are being provided by ten of our top area chefs, and three local bakeries (check the link on our website to see who will be there). You will be able to sample a variety of these food treats all in one place. I know you are thinking– Wow! What a deal! However, there’s even more… you can take a tour of the Mission, discover the Timberlake Outreach Center, and see the new Lydia House. You can also view the plans for the new Permanent Supportive Housing building and new Garland Thompson Men’s Center. After you have just spent a wonderful day walking, enjoying delicious soups, and meeting new people, we will shuttle you back to your cars.
Don’t let this opportunity pass you by! Go to https://www.opendoormission.org/
and click on the Walk-a-Thon link to register today. This is fast and easy–you can even choose to pay on-line or on the day of the Walk-a-Thon. We will be looking forward to seeing you on Sunday, September 19th. Please join us.
