A Tree With a Difference

Dec 6, 2019  |     |   General

Jack Frost’s cold winds are nipping at little fingers and big ones too! At Open Door Mission we have people coming and going all winter. We have children that tend to lose their mittens, just like the three little kittens. In other words we need lots of mittens (and gloves). Do you decorate a tree at your work or church?  Do you want your tree to make a difference?  Have a “Mitten Tree”.  All you need is a bare tree, clothespins and generous people. People bring a pair of mittens (or gloves) and clip the on to the tree. Then before you know it you have beautifully decorated tree and a great gift for Open Door Mission. The tree becomes an example of the true meaning of the season-giving and caring about others.  Start a new tradition with a “Mitten Tree”.

If you are a knitter or crocheter we also love handmade mittens, scarves and hats. If you are a “super shopper”  we would appreciate your skills on providing mittens, gloves, hats and scarves too.
