A New Chance at Life

My name is Daniel Christopher Harder. I started using drugs when I was 18 year old. I used meth on and off for the next 20 years while racking up felony charges and deteriorating into hopelessness. This led me to almost dying back in May when I jumped off of a bridge. That incident led me to Open Door Mission’s New Life Recovery Program.
I am so glad I came to this program as it has totally transformed my life. I have been shown that I no longer need my old behaviors and hangouts. I can be a man of Christ that my Father in heaven wishes me to be.
I joined life changing discipleship called Marked Men for Christ in which I attend church every Sunday and attend at least one bible study a week.
I also will be starting a job soon and wish to live here at the Mission after graduation because of the accountable environment, the help with affordable rent, and my fellow brothers in Christ.
I have plans on getting back into my children’s lives again with the help of programs such as Father’s for a Lifetime and the support team I have in the discipleship of Marked Men for Christ.
There are too many things to be thankful for that I can’t really list here, but the most important thing is that the Holy Spirit has helped me through the program every step of the way. I could not have done it without Him and all of the staff here at Open Door Mission.
My favorite bible verse that gives me so much hope is: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16
