It has been another busy week here at Open Door Mission. This week our Timberlake Outreach Center is having its year end Super Duper Give Away WEEK! Three times this week we have invited those living in poverty to come and shop for clothing, furniture, bedding, electronics and house wares. On Tuesday I had the opportunity to assist a family in receiving a couch that had a hideaway bed in it so that their son can have a bed to sleep on in their small apartment. What a blessing to be able to make a difference one time for this family. Thursday, I got to share in our Celebrate Education event with Lydia House’s staff and children, in partnership with the Southwest Kiwanis. We were able to honor all of our children in their academic pursuits and congratulate them on a great quarter. Of course we are also had fun with a magician followed by an ice cream social!

I also wanted to encourage everyone to check out our website or career link for Open Door Mission’s job postings. The Lydia House and Garland Thompson Men’s Center are looking for dedicated individuals who want to serve those who are hungry and homeless. We have day, evening and overnight positions available for House Supervisors, Family Support Workers and Case Managers in both facilities. This is your opportunity to work hand in hand with guests of Open Door Mission. We are looking for those who have hearts to serve and want to be in fulltime ministry.

Make a difference in the lives of others by donating your gently used clothing, furniture and household items. Donations can be dropped off at our receiving area now located on the east side of the Timberlake Outreach Center, 2107 E Locust St
• Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
