The Open Door Mission’s Permanent Supportive Housing is designed to assist families and individuals as they move from homelessness to independent housing. Supportive housing serves as a foundation for those that have experienced homelessness—for a variety of reasons and keeping them from losing courage along the way.
I have heard one of our Permanent Supportive Housing residents say “I am so grateful that I have a chance to put into practice what I’ve learned. I thought it would be easy, but it’s not. If I had been out there on my own, I would have gone back to what I used to do.” Another person said “I thank God for Open Door Mission and for the opportunities I have here.” yet another said “I’m happy here, this is exactly what I need.”
I am thankful that I have the opportunity to see the growth and excitement of what is being brought about in the lives of residents of Permanent Supportive Housing. I know there are even greater things in store for us.
