Great Thanksgiving BanquetOpen Door Mission is preparing to serve  up to 6,500 meals to hungry people during the week of Thanksgiving starting with our Great Thanksgiving Banquet on Saturday, November 17.

"More than 500,000 meals will be served at rescue mission Thanksgiving tables in America," Candace Gregory estimates. "This is a tremendous effort shared by loving and generous donors across the nation and the missions they support."

This is just one of the many ways Open Door Mission will serve the homeless and near-homeless this holiday season. Here's how you can support your mission in the Heartland!

Turkey 'N' Tour

Sunday, November 13, bring the family - and a few turkeys - to take a tour of Open Door Mission! We'll need more than 3,000 turkeys for our Great Thanksgiving Banquet and for our Turkey 'N' Fixins' distribution to up to 2,000 at-risk families in the community.

Bring the family, along with your gifts for our Thanksgiving meals and distributions and take a tour of Open Door Mission.  See you there!

Great Thanksgiving Banquet

Hope begins with a meal! And with your help, we'll welcome thousands of hungry, often lonely, folks to our Great Thanksgiving Banquet, Saturday, November 19, for a traditional turkey dinner complete with homemade pumpkin pie. This homey event brings joy and comfort to many who would otherwise go without.

Turkey 'N' Fixins

Families who come to our banquet and other qualifying families will take home a food box brimming with everything they need to serve their own Thanksgiving meal. And it's because you - our faithful friends - choose to share from your own God-given abundance.

The Drive for this event will be held at all area Omaha and Council Bluffs Hy-Vee stores in conjunction with KGBI 100.7 on Saturday, November 12th from 7 AM - 7 PM.  If you miss this event, feel free to bring your donations of turkey and other foods to the Mission!

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission founded in 1954. Each day, Open Door Mission ministries provides 320 men, women, and children with safe shelter beds, serves nearly 1,500 hot nutritious meals, and provides preventive measures to more than 250 families living in poverty. to meet the basic physical needs of the hungry and homeless, the Open Door Mission’s day facility services provide free transportation from the downtown area to Open Door Mission and Lydia House. Open Door Mission offers life-changing programs for those recovering from life-altering addictions and abuse to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
