Open Door Mission’s Lydia House provides emergency services for women and families in need of immediate assistance. Food, shelter, clothing and other basic needs are provided. Each person is offered an opportunity for life-change through case management in taking the first steps toward preventing future homelessness.
Lydia House also offers long-term recovery programs to address the causes for homelessness, such as abuse, addiction, or the inability to obtain and maintain steady employment.
The New Life Recovery Program is a Bible-Based 12-step residential program committed to providing women and families the tools necessary to become self-sufficient, contributing members of the community. This program involves daily classes in 12-step recovery, Bible and life skills. Individual and CADAC counseling is combined with weekly counseling sessions. The individual works with the NLRP team to develop a personal plan for recovery and independence.
The Journey to Work Program focuses on breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty through personal development, money management, job training, and educational skills. If neeed, GED classes are offered. While on the program, participants receive valuable training and job skills working in various capacities at the Mission or in the workplace.
The AfterCare Program is a service available to individuals and families after graduating from one of Open Door Mission’s programs. Support is crucial at this time, and AfterCare provides help during the graduate’s transition to independent living.
Permanent Supportive Housing is offered to those men, women, and children who may benefit from living in a stable environment for an extended period of time. This safe and affordable housing provides supportive services to many individuals and families.

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue
Mission founded in 1954. Each day, Open Door Mission ministries provides
320 men, women, and children with safe shelter beds, serves more than 1,500
hot nutritious meals, and provides preventive measures to more than 250
families living in poverty. to meet the basic physical needs of the hungry
and homeless, the Open Door Mission’s
day facility services provide free transportation from the downtown area
to Open Door Mission and Lydia House. Open Door Mission offers life-changing
programs for those recovering from life-altering addictions and abuse to
break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
