Open Door Mission’s Receiving Area

Now located on the east side of the Timberlake Outreach Center off 22nd St.

  • Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Other Gift In Kind Information or Needs

All GIK donations we receive are given FREE OF CHARGE. Everyone in need coming through our doors receive help if we have the resources to give. That's why it is so vital for our neighbors in the community to continue helping with items, no longer needed, that are still in good and useable contdition.

 

Upcoming Closure Dates

Open Door Mission's Receiving Area, Timberlake Outreach Center and Administration Building will be closed November 24, 2011 and November 25, 2011 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Donation Receipt

A receipt for your items may be obtained in one of two ways:

  • If you drop off a donation at Open Door Mission, the receiving clerk will provide you with a receipt.
  • If you have your donations picked up, the truck driver will provide you with a receipt.
     

Unacceptable Items 

Due to legal or particle considerations, we CANNOT accept the following items:

  • Built-in appliances
  • Tires of any kind
  • Used paint, solvents or grease
  • Fertilizer or pesticides
  • Concrete blocks or bricks
  • Used carpet
  • Nonworking appliances
  • Sleeper sofas or hide-a-beds
  • Console televisions
  • Broken furniture
  • Nonworking electronics, radios or televisions
  • Sinks
  • Metal desks
  • Badly stained or torn mattresses
  • Wet clothing
  • Waterbeds, waterbed frames, waterbed headboards
  • Old typewriters
  • Dishwashers (Unless portable)
  • Old doors, windows or glass, or other construction or remodeling supplies
  • Organs or pianos
  • Old computers and associated equipment

Please note that this information is intended to serve as a general guide. Unacceptable items are subject to frequent change. Legal restrictions and limited storage capacity prevent the acceptance of some items. Please call the Timberlake Outreach Center at 402-422-1111, ext. 1517 if you are unsure whether we can accept your donation.

 

Donations Dos and Don'ts (Please): 

Do: Test all electrical and battery-operated equipment to make sure it is in working condition.
Do: Include all pieces and/or parts, manuals, if available.
Do: Wash or dry-clean any clothing prior to donation.
Do: Bring an itemized list of your donations and ask for a receipt.
Do not: Donate broken or soiled items.
Do not: Leave items outside the Open Door Mission building.
